Dear My Work Station,

Finally, its the finale tutorial...
After I've gone through with Computer Graphics 2 class....
This is what I've learned in this tutorial 6....
I've learned advance techniques of filters effects, editor and enchance images using level, curve and creating alpha channel....

Steps-By-Steps

-Firstly, I'm creating the new layer of the background...
-Then, I rename it as bark...
-I choose the brown colour as the main colour of the bark....

-Create white background image-

-create Bark layer-

-Then, I choose the channel layer...
-I turned off all the RGB colour and I make a new alpha channel...
-After that, I applied the Fiber style to the background...
-I make the adjustment of the strength and variance of the fibers...

-create the fibers effect at alpha channel-

-Then, I turned on the RGB colours at the channel layers...
-After that, I'm applying the lighting effect to the background...
-I changed the texture channel and adjusting the position of the lighting itself...

-create the lighting effect at RGB channel-

-I create the new layer which named it to 'Wallpaper'...
-I changed the background to be in brown colour...

-create the new Wallpaper layer-

-I create the Round shape at the background of the wallpaper...
-I used the yellow colour for the shape...
-Then, I duplicate it to make it looks like polka dots...
-I placed the polka dots in randomly...

-create the polka dots duplicate shapes-

-I choosed the alpha channel and turn off the RGB colours...
-I applied the glass effect (Filter>Distort>Glass)...
-I'm adjusting the distortion and also the smoothness of the glass effect...

-create glass filter effect at alpha channel-

-adjusting the appropriate glass scale-

-Then, I turn on the RGB colours....
-And as usual, I'm using the lighting effect for it...
-In the texture channel, I choose the Alpha 2 texture...

-Use the lighting effect at RGB channel-

-After that, I choose the path layer...
-I select the 70's text at the layer path...
-Then, I create a new layer which name 'Basic Chrome Shape'...

-selects 70's at path layer-

-use new Basic Chrome Shape layer-

-I fill the 70's text with the white colour...
-Then, I select the RGB colours and save it as selection channel...
-In the alpha channel, I make it the background to be in black colour...
-I choose the stroke effect to be applied there...

-use stroke effect-

-I choose the Gaussian Blur to make the 70's in blur mode...
-Then, I make a duplicate of the alpha channel layer...
-I select the 1st alpha channel and make the up and left move of the text...
-The, I select the duplicate alpha channel and make the down and right move of the text...
-After that, I applied the calculation tools (Image>Calculation)...
-Then, I set the blending mode to be in Difference mode...

-use calculation tools-

-adjusting calculation tools-

-I create a new alpha channel layer...
-I adjust the shape using the curve tools...
-Then, I save it to curve.acv...

-save the created curves adjustment-

-I press the copy short cut (CTRL+C) to the 70's text...
-Then, I paste it at the new layer...
-Then, I rename it as Chrome Edge...

-create new layer Chrome Edge-

-I import the RM5 note...
-I adjust the colour using the hue and saturation mode...
-I applied the Gaussian Blur to the RM5 note...

-insert RM5 note image-

-I applied the Level tools..
-I make some adjustment to the input levels...
-Then, I load the curve file that I already save before to be applied to the layer...

-adjust using the curves-

-use the curves effect that already been save before-

-I select the RM5 note and also the 70's text...
-Then, I applied the layer mask to make both images combined together...
-I choose the difference type layer to make the glossy Chrome text to be appear...
-I'm adjusting the hue and the saturation of the colour....

-select layer 1 and 70's-

-create layer mask-

-use difference effect layer-

-adjust hue and saturation-

-I select the path layer and make a duplicate of the 70's text...
-I make the transformation using the (CTRL+T) tools..
-I placed the duplicate layer just below the original layer...

-create 70's new copy layer and use free transform-

-I create a new layer to be rename as 'Shadow Layer'....
-Then, I placed the layer to be on top of the Wallpaper layer...

-create shadow layer-

-I choose the Gaussian Blur to the 70's text...
-I used the Lasso tool to select the path that I want to be affected...
-Then, I applied the Feather tools to it (Select>Feather)...
-I changed it to 30pixels...

-applying Lasso tool and feather tool-

-Then, I create the Blur Motion Tools...
-I adjust the angle and the distance...
-Then, I applied the Layer Mask for it..
-I used the gradient colour to the layer...
-I changed the opacity of the shadow layer...

-using motion blur-

-change opacity-

-I make the all layers to be visible back again...
-Then, we can see the 70's text and the effect of the wallpaper itself...

-visible the layers-

-I save it as .jpeg image....

Here are my fully description of this digital wallpaper!

Description

MMU-FOE Open Day

What is FOE? FOE actually stands for Faculty Of Engineering.It contains 9 courses for Undergraduate studies. Postgraduate studies are divided into 3 categories which are Master of Engineering, Doctor of Engineering and Research Degree. To make the audience to be more clearer about the courses of the Engineering, Multimedia University is launching the MMU-FOE Open Day. So, I will be the person who take incharge in promoting the faculty to the audience. The target user are for the freshies and also for the visitor who are interested in knowing this faculty. In my MMU-FOE Open Day, I make the audience know when is the date of Open Day for the Engineering Courses. The MMU-FOE Open Day will be held on 9th January 2009.I'm include the details to which they can contact if they have inquiry.I'm using the robotic as the symbolic for Engineering field. The graduated MMU FOE student will show that all FOE student have the ability to graduate with the Flying Colours. I'm using this tagline 'Switch ON the Engineering Skills!' to attract the audience and at the same time to make the images will be more significant between each other. So, by completed MMU-FOE Open Day digital wallpaper, I hope I can achieve my target through the messages.

Step-By-Step

-I import the main image which is the robotic bulb image...
-I edit the colour by adjusting the brightness & contrast...
-I crop some part of it to eliminate the copyright sign...

-import the main image-

-I took the picture which I snapped previously which is the FOE signboard...
-I just need the text for my design...
-So, I crop text using the Crop tool...
-Then, I dragged the crop text to the main image...

-crop the image from my snapshot-

-I'm using the transform tool (CTRL + T) to place the text to the image socket...
-I'm pressing the 'CTRL' button while placing the edge of the text...
-Then, I changed to colour to be more brighter...
-I'm using the curve tool to adjust the colour...

-using the transform tool-

-Then, I create new layer to make the text...
-I create the main text first and place them at some part that I want to place them...
-Thus, I insert the courses list at the image...
-I get all those courses from FOE website...
-I changed the colour for it to make it looks contrast course by course...

-insert the main text-

-insert the list of the courses-

-To make the wire to be spotted in the image, I used the brush tool to colour the plug in yellowish...
-In the brush tool, I choosed the suitable size for the brush and I changed the Layer type to be in color mode...
-I just colour half of the wire because I just need to show the audience just the main part of the wire...Not the entire wire due to my 1st target to make the main plug to be synchronize with the tagline...

-using paint brush-

-I'm inserting the MMU 3D logo to the main image...
-I used the Lasso tool to eliminate the background of the logo...
-I adjust the colour using the contrast and brightness to make the image looks more clearer...

-inserting the MMU 3D Logo-

-I'm using the transform tool to place the image inside the bulb...
-I want to make it looks like the logo will be the eye of the robot...
-I'm using the 'CTRL' button to move the edge of the transform image to be fit inside it...
-I'm adjusting the transparency for the logo, so that it match with the fragile bulb..

-using transform tool-

-I'm inserting the LCD screen to the main image...
-I eliminate the background using the Magic Wand tools and also the Lasso tools....
-Then, I changed the LCD colour to be in almost grey mode to look alike the main background image...

-inserting the LCD screen-

-I imported my friend's graduation images inside...
-I changed the colour using the photo filter to make it looks Cyan colour...
-Then, I apply the Hue and Saturation colour to make it looks nice...
-After that, I used the transform tool to placed the image to the LCD screen...

-inserting the image to the LCD screen-

-I duplicate the image so that I can make effect between each image..
-I crop the duplicate image using the Lasso tools...
-Then, I used the brush tool to make it looks black and white colour except the robe ribbon colour which is Orange to show that FOE robe colour...
-I used the Drop Shadow effect to make shadow around the image and some glowing effect...
-Then, I put the image near the LCD but I minimized the size of the LCD and the image that I placed before..
-This will make looks like the image is going out from the LCD screen...
-That's my main purpose to do it...

-crop the image-

-To create the different effect to the main background, I'm using the filter effect for it...
-I choose Craquelure effect to make it looks like rough...
-I adjust the crack spacing, depth and brightness to make it looks realistic...
-Thus, I also used the rough effect to make it looks more roughly...

-use the Filter effect for the background texture-

-I make some adjustment to the text style to make it looks suitable to the theme...
-My theme to be simple and easy to read..
-So, I decided to use blue colour as the main colour...
-I applied the Drop Shadow,Bevel and Emboss and also Stroke style to make it looks more like 3D text...
-Then, I changed the opacity for it...
-I used the suitable text font size and type to make it look not to un-formal type..

-adjust the font style-

-I insert the contact numbers and also the website in the wallpaper...
-I make the text to be well placed to make the audience not feel confusing when they read it...
-I choose black colour text style at the right side to make the difference between the text on the left side...

-position the texts-

-I insert the tagline text which is 'Switch ON Your Engineering Skill!'...
-I place the tagline below as related to the robotic image...
-I used the additional brush effect for the text to avoid plain background...
-I placed the brush effect at the corner of the text..
-I make it in different size and colourwhich is black and blue...

-add additional brush effect-

-Then, I add the additional shape that looks like window to be placed at the left side...
-The reason I used it, is because I want to seperate both text and images differently...
-I'm also applying the concept of in-formal symmetry for the main image to be well balance ...
-I choose the color as same as the robotic background colour which is grey...

-add additional shape effects-

-I used the butterfly brush effect to show that FOE students can graduate with flying colours...
-I used the colourful colour for the butterflies...
-I edit the size for it to be more cute butterflies....

-add butterfly brush effect-

-I used the brush tool to apply the blue and black flowers at the bottom of the LCD...
-I changed the size of the brush...
-I make the brush style to be apply like the flowers flows from the side to bottom...

-adding the brush effect at the bottom of the LCD-

-I make the 'ON' words to be in red and UPPERCASE so that the audience will pay more attention to the tagline...
-I placed the tagline at the bottom...
-I used the Shadow Drop tools for the text to make some effect to it...

-adjusting the tagline-

-Here is the final output for the digital wallpaper...
-I make some adjustment here and there to make it looks more nice effect...
-Plus, I'll make some changes after I got some advised by Mdm. Lydia...
-I changed the date colour to be look different from the 'Open Day' colour...

My work almost 80% completed...
Eventhough I'm a bit late to post any of my update because I'm too busy this few weeks with my FYP matters..
Because my FYP presentation just around the corner (Wednesday : 23rd Dis 08)....
So, I need to rush here and there to complete my task...
But thank God, I still managed to do my work for this assignment 2...

Regarding this assignment, I'm using just a little part of my snap shot previously...
Because I think the poster will not look like fun to read if I put my snap shots there...

My Work Progress

-I take some of the reference images and make some modification to it...

Dear My Work Stations,

Today I'm learning some new stuff regarding in Tutorial 5...
This is what I've learned during this exercise...
I'm using the advance techniques of blending layers effects...
Also, defining brush stroke style effects and editor, using filters tool to apply the effects and adjusting images using curve effect techniques
Below is the step-by-step on how I did this exercise...

Step-By-Step

-To create the flame shape, I used the Lasso Tool...
-Eventhough it's hard to draw, but I slowly try to get the better shape of the outline...
-I fill it with the white colour...

-create flame shape using Lasso Tool-

-I used the Gaussian Blur tool to be apply to the flame...
-I set it to be around radius of 2.2 pixels...

-Using Gaussian Blur for the flame-

-Then, I lock the layer to preserve the layer...
-After that, I used the Brush tool to paint around the shapes...
-This will make the black colour effect around the flame...

-Using Brush Tool-

-After applying brush tool-

-Then, I turn the background image to be invisible...
-Before that, I need to select the flame first before turn the background invisible...
-Edit>Define Brush Preset...
-I save it as 'Flames' for the new brush...

-Make the layer background invisible-

-save it as 'Flames' new brush-

-After that, I did it again the steps using Brush tools but I changed it by using new brush...
-The brush is actually the flame shape that I saved it previously...
-Thus, I paint at the guy's hand by using different size of the paint brush...
-All were applying using new layer which is the final flame layer...
-I select the red and yellow colour then, I create the rectangle using the Rectangle Marquee Tool...
-Then choose Filter>Render>Clouds

-used previous brush tools-

-used the yellow and red colour-

-Pressing 'CTRL' + 'L' to adjust the level...
-Then, I'm using the Free Transform to position it to the flames...
- Then I press Ctrl+Shift+I on layer Color and delete...
-After that,I choose Liquify tools...

-Adjusting the levels

-Positioning the colour to the flame-

-Using Liquify Tools-

-The layer Color was copied to put the flames on the other side of the hand...
-This will create the new copy layer of the flames...
-Then, I used the Eraser tool...
-I erase some part of the flame that overflow the hand...

-Make 2 flames-

-Smoke layer was created...
-I draw the smoke using Lasso tool and filled it with White...
-And as usual, I used the Gaussian tool to make it blur...
-I set it around 17.9 pixels...
-I also adjusting the levels as above steps...

-using Gaussian Blur-

-Using the levels tools-

-I create multiple smokes to make it more true effect...
-I made some changes in colour...
-I used the photo filter to make the entire main colour to be in orange colour...

-The 2nd one with some additional mix around here and there to make it looks like different from the original image...
-I changed the image by adding the Sphere and Pinch effect, plus with some of Lens Flare filter...

-I also made some changes to the colour by adjusting the Photo Filter Colour...
-So, Mission accomplish for this Tutorial 5...

Project Objective

Learning process of implementing the multiple tools using Photoshop Software in creating the digital wallpaper regarding ‘MMU FOE Open Day’. In this wallpaper, I will be promoting Engineering Faculty to the freshies and the outsider and give them some knowledge towards benefit of joining FOE in future

Approach

I’m creating digital wallpaper based on the pictures that I have taken via websites and some of my snapshots using the digital camera. Then, I’ll alter them by using the Adobe Photoshop CS2. The wallpaper will be in A4 size.

I will promote my faculty which is engineering faculty to be well known by inserting the FOE signboard to clarify the FOE main theme. Then, some images like FOE building, FOE students and some related sign for engineering stuff to be included there.

In Photoshop, I’m using the layering techniques to rearrange and do some edit part to the images. Then, I’m using the filter tools also such as Gaussian Blur, Drop Shadow and the adjustment of the colours (Hue, Saturation, and Contrast). Thus, applying the layer mask, crop, lasso tool, shape tool, and etc will make the effect of the wallpaper to be nicer. The inserting of text, I’ll make it look some impacts to the audience when they read it.

The idea of my digital wallpaper is that I'm using symbolic of Engineering stuff which is robotic.This is because when the audience see the robotic, straight away they will understand the main theme is Engineering field.Then, I will put also some images related to the successful Engineering students in it (MMU Engineering graduated student).Then, I'll put the list of the courses offered by the faculty in this wallpaper to make the better understanding.Thus, by including the date and also the contact number, this wallpaper will be very useful and efficient.Tagline will be included also to attract people to read it.

This assignment 2 give me challenging for creating the creativity in terms of promoting my own faculty. I need to search more ideas in creating it. But I try to make it fun since Photoshop really make me to explore more in order to appreciate more the usefulness of using this software

I've done my Tutorial 4 regarding the understanding of advance techniques of layering effects, applying stroke style effects and color editor, using channel tool to apply the effects and applying blending on layer image as part of background effect techniques

I learned so many things in learning this tutorial 4...
This will help me in progressing of my assignment 2...
So, here are my working process in the making of tutorial 4.....

Step-By-Step

-I start this exercise with imported the main image to the background layer...
-Then, I click on View->Actual Pixels to view the image in the more details...

-viewing in the actual pixels-

-I choose the Ink Vectors layer to make some modification to it...
-I then, click the Gradient Overlay to make some adjustment...
-I double click the most left arrow button and the most right arrow button at the color bar to change the color base on what I desired to be...

-use Gradient Overlay-

-changing the colour-

-At the gradient overlay box, I changed the angled of the gradient to be -90 degree..
-The effect will changed the colour position (the darker green will be ontop and the lighter green will be at the bottom)...

-set the angle of gradient-

-Then, I'm choosing the Inner Shadow layer style to make some adjustment...
-I set the angle of the light source to be 90 degrees...
-Then, I changed the opacity of the shadow to be in smaller percentage...
-After that, changed the size of the shadow and also the distance to be around 10px...

-Then, I choose the drop shadow layer effect style...
-I changed the distance and also the size of the shadow...

-Applying the drop shadow effect-

-After that, I choose the outer glow layer style to this exercise...
-I changed the glow colour from yellow to black...
-Then, I changed the blend mode to be multiply...

-choose the outer glow layer style-

-Moreover, I choose the Bevel and Emboss layer style to make the words to be more interesting...
-I changed the altitude to be 75 degrees...
-I set the opacity of highlight to be in maximum position which is 100%...
-Then, I set the opacity of shadow to be in minimum position which is 0%...
-I also using the contour style in the subdivision on Bevel and Emboss layer...
-I set the range of the contour and choose anti-aliased to get the smooth surface..
-In the texture section, I choose the woven pattern to be apply at the text..

-choose the bevel and emboss layer style-

-Applying the texture-

-I drag the style that I've already done in Ink Vector Layer to be drop at the style layer to make the new style mode...
-I rename the style layer to be Green Drop Layer Style...
-Then, I click the Ink Splat 1 layer to be modify by me...
-I choose the Green Drop Layer Style that I've created before to be same apply to this layer...
-I make some changes in the style by using the drop down option in the layer...
-Same goes to the Ink Splat 2 layer...
-I apply the same techniques but this time, I changed the colour to be yellowish to make it looks different each other..
-In the texture layers, I unchecked the Link Texture with Layer box, so that the background and the layers are well blend to be in single layer...
-Then, I click snap to the origin...

-Apply the same concept the other layer-

-changing the colour to look different-

-un-check the use to link texture with layers-

-I make the layers to be invisible...
-Then, I click the channel layers to make the layers in 3 different mode which is Red, Green and Blue mode...
-I'm interested using the Green mode, so I make the duplicate layer for the green mode, so that it won't effect the original layer...

-make the layers to invisible-

-making duplicate Green Channel Layer-

-I choose radial blur for the layer rather than Gaussian Blur...
-Then, I use the Level channel (CTRL + L) to edit the balancing of the blur effect..

-using radial blur effect-

-adjusting using level channel-

-I'm creating the new patter layer by using the Edit -> Define Pattern...
-Then, I rename it to Rust..

-define pattern-

-Then, I'm using the Rectangle Tools...
-After that, I set it to Shape Layers...

-Rectangle Tools-

-I'm applying the style that I used to the Splat Drops which is the Green Drops style...
-I'm creating the layer mask into the shape layer...

-Then, I apply the layer mask Thumbnail...
-I use the CTRL + Backspace shortcut to make it set to black...

-I used the brush tool to create the area effect for the image...
-I set the brush to maximum sharpness...

-I'm choosing the Blending Option Custom to make the layer are well blend together...
-Then, I check the box of the Blend The Interior Effect As Group...

-This will make the layer looks like icy...
-I set it as my desired looks of icy layer...

Dear My Beloved Work Station,

On last Friday, I managed to take some snap shot around FOE building...
I captured some of the images which I think look interesting..
Then, I did some tour along MMU to capture anything which can be related to the wallpaper to-be..
but the problem arrised that day is that, not the right timing..
I snap the picture during the afternoon around 12 o-clock because that the only time I have to snap the pictures...
So, the quality of the images not so nice...
this means, I need a lot of work to improvise the picture by edit it later..

Project Objective

Learning process of implementing the multiple tools using Photoshop Software in creating the digital wallpaper regarding ‘MMU FOE Open Day’. In this wallpaper, I will be promoting Engineering Faculty to the freshies and the outsider and give them some knowledge towards benefit of joining FOE in future

Approach

I’m creating digital wallpaper based on the pictures that I have taken via websites and some of my snapshots using the digital camera. Then, I’ll alter them by using the Adobe Photoshop CS2. The wallpaper will be in A4 size.

I will promote my faculty which is engineering faculty to be well known by inserting the FOE signboard to clarify the FOE main theme. Then, some images like FOE building, FOE students and some related sign for engineering stuff to be included there.

In Photoshop, I’m using the layering techniques to rearrange and do some edit part to the images. Then, I’m using the filter tools also such as Gaussian Blur, Drop Shadow and the adjustment of the colours (Hue, Saturation, and Contrast). Thus, applying the layer mask, crop, lasso tool, shape tool, and etc will make the effect of the wallpaper to be nicer. The inserting of text, I’ll make it look some impacts to the audience when they read it.

The idea of my digital wallpaper is that I will make the audience recognize what building that I’m display to them. Then, I will put some FOE sign to it for the clearer understanding, plus the addition of the text with some thought in it. I’m also will include the students standing in between the building and some engineering machine inside the wallpaper to show the significant between those images and the text.

2nd Phase: Images are edited and place inside the wallpaper. Text will be included

This assignment 2 give me challenging for creating the creativity in terms of promoting my own faculty. I need to search more ideas in creating it. But I try to make it fun since Photoshop really make me to explore more in order to appreciate more the usefulness of using this software

I need to start my assignment 2....
since the dateline just around the corner...
In this assignment 2, I need to do the digital wallpaper...
Promoting my faculty which is FOE...
So basically is 'MMU FOE Open Day'....

My basic idea....
I'll try to have some snap shot around FOE building...
and then, I will apply some simple tagline to promote my faculty...
So, by the end of this week...
I'll try completing editing the images and put some effect to it...

As for now...
I will update later, my progress as soon as I done snap the images by this Friday...

Money Making

Dear My Work Station,

Today I've done for the tutorial 3 part...
I choose the money exercise as my practical practice for this tutorial...
I've changed some part of it to make it look different from the original tutorial part...
Here are some journey of documentation regarding my work for this tutorial...

Step-By-Step

In this tutorial 3, I've learned this concept to make it done:
1-apply the techniques of Masking and Alpha Channel
2-the use of advanced filter effects
3-techniques of applying the text tools with effects 4-compositing the image inside the text

How?
-At first I insert the main images to be the background image...
-I'm using the 'F' key to make it in full version...

-inserting image to main page-

-I click to the channel layer and make all the RGB color to be invisible...
-I click the Alpha layer to make the Saving word to be appear...

-visible the alpha channel-

-In the tutorial, they used the dollar note...but I make some changes...
-I choose the Ringgit Malaysia note to make it looks different from the tutorial part...
-So, I import the RM5 note to the work station...

-insert the RM5 note-

-I dragged the RM5 note to the main page...
-I choose the proper position for it...

-drag the RM5 to the main-

-In this section, I used the transform method to resize the image and put it at the proper position...
-The RM5 note also I placed overlapped with the 'Saving' word...

-position the RM5 note-

-I'm duplicating the RM5 note by pressing the 'ALT' button while dragging the image...
-Then, I used the transform function to edit the size and position it...

-duplicate the RM5 note-

-Then, I choose the Drop shadow tools to make the money has shadow to it...
-I adjust the shadow by dragging the shadow to my desired position...

-make the drop shadow for the money-

-I import the RM10 and RM100 note, then I cropped the note to make it look more nicer...
-Then,I dragged to the main image and position it as above way...

-crop the RM10 note-

-crop the RM100 note-

-Same technique I applied from the above way...
-I make the duplicate RM note and place it along the 'Saving' word...
-All the notes I make the drop shadow function..

-position the RM10 and RM100 notes-

-I clicked to the channel layer..
-Then, I make the RGB colour to be visible again and the Alpha channel colour to be invisible..

-visible the RGB channel and hide the Alpha channel-

-I click all the RGB colour and then I pressed the 'CTRL' button while clicking the Alpha channel layer...
-So, the 'dash' saving word will be appeared...

-make the load selection-

-I click to the layer section and I press the 'ALT' + 'BackSpace' to make it change to black colour...
-So, the Saving word already can be seen...
-Then, I dragged the layer down to be on top of the background layer...

-fill the saving word with the black colour-

-I make all the layer to be invisible accept the background and the saving layer to be seen...
-Then, I pressed the 'CTRL' button and hold to the line between 2 layers...
-Both layer are to be group together and the word and images are blend together...

-apply images to the text-

-I used the same techniques and apply it to the other layer after visible back all the layer...
-I hold the all layers and then group them together with the previos layer that has been combined with text...

-apply images to all saving text-

-I make some changes to the final images just to test my skills from the previous tutorial...
-I'm using the brush tool to make the background in the black and white colour....
-The sea also I changed it to make in blue colour using the brush tool...
-I did this just for fun...hehe... :D

“Malaysia, Truly Asia”Postcard

-My Final Postcard-

What is Malaysia, Truly Asia? This is the best theme which promote Malaysia to entire world.This shows that Malaysian people completes the concept of peace and tranquility Same goes to my own finale completion for the postcard. In my postcard, I choose multicultural people in Malaysia. Thus, I'm using the hibiscus because its a symbolic flower and also our national flower. Moreover, I'm inserting the Malaysian flag to give clear view to the tourist about the Malaysian country.I'm choosing red as the main colour since red is one of Malaysian colour. So, I combined all the elements above and well organize plus the edition in order to make the postcard looks simple and the message itself, easy for them to capture the main concept that I've done.

Postcard Finale TouchUp...

Finally I managed to complete my postcard...
but yet, still not good enough compare to my other friends...
maybe my creativity not so good enough...

But somehow I'm still trying to improve myself...
Here are my fully description regarding this ways to do the postcard...

Step-by-Step

-I'm using ruler ruler tools for startup...
-Then I'm using horizontal and vertical line to adjust the middle point for it...
-I'm importing the images inside the software then i drag to the platform of the Photoshop software..
-1st I'm choosing the main focus photo in my postcard which is the multicultural girls images..
-I'm changing the image resolution to make it suites the criteria needed....
-I changed the resolution to be in 300...
-Then, I changed the colour of the attire of the girls...
-In this matter, I'm using the brush technique..
-I paint some of the colour in red and some part grey...

-changed the image size-

-Since I'm choosing hibiscus in this postcard, so I will make the petals only to be highlights in red..
-I'm changging the colour using different layer and use the brush tool to color..
-I put the hibiscus layer at the bottom / background of the images...

-colour the hibiscus and put gray scale for background-

-The Malaysian flag also I changed it to one color only which is red...
-I'm using the same technique like coloring using brush tool for the girls...

-colour the flags-

-Then, I used the wand magic tool to illiminate the background image...
-Sometimes I'm using the lasso tool to delete the path that I don't want to use...

-use magic wand to eliminate the background-

-To make the postcard looks interesting, I'm using the custom shape put at behind of the postcard...
-I'm adjusting the opacity to make it looks transparent...

-inserting font-

-I'm creating the font which is state like the theme postcard which is 'Malaysia,Truly Asia'...
-Then, I'm adjusting both words using different color which is red and white...
-I'm creating the back drop color also for the text...

-using custom shapes (leaves)-

-I edit the font color also and using the drop shadow to make the font look interesting...
-Then I add the jigsaw puzzle shape at the font to make it well seen together...

My New Updated Concept

Assignment 1 Title:

Printout Postcard for the theme “Malaysia, Truly Asia”.

Approach:

I'm creating a postcard based on the pictures that have been taken via websites and alter the by using Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Most of the images taken are .jpeg and .bmp. In Adobe, layering is mostly used since the images have to be placed and arranged on top of each other. Besides that, I’m using filtering such as Gaussian or Radial blur. For the text, I will be using my own fonts. Masking will also be used in this assignment. As for the color, Hue, Saturation and Contrast is used depending on my likings.

The idea for this postcard is where there are three different races and religion of Malaysian people (Malay, Chinese, and India). At the side of the postcard there are images of Malaysians peoples. There are images that represent Malaysian symbol, for example (Batik and hibiscus). I’m including also the Malaysian flag in the postcard. At the top is where the tagline "Malaysia, Truly Asia" will be display.

-I'm changing the colour to be more reddish...

-Then, I try to make the background looks grey scale...

-My concept is simple...trying to do the grey + reddish motif..

-So far, I managed done 70% of my work...

Step-By-Step

-Import Image to the software-

-First, I imported the original image to the photoshop software...

-changed the colour of the Car-

-I add new layer and rename it as car...
-Then, I choose the color mode instead of using the normal mode layer...
-I use the paint brush tool to change the colour of the car...
-I changed the colour of the car from dark green to light green...
-With using the '[' and ']' keys, I can control the size of the brush that I want to use it...
-And also, to view the image clearly, I used the 'Ctrl + 'C' + '+' for zoom in...and 'Ctrl' + 'C' + '+' for zoom out...

-changed the colour of the File-

-I used the same technique as car...
-but I changed it to different colour...
-I changed from Pink file to Blue file...

-changed the colour of the bag-

-I used the same technique as car...
-but I changed it to different colour...
-I changed from Brown bag to Red bag...

-changed the colour of T-shirt-

-I used the same technique as car...
-but I changed it to different colour...
-I changed from Red Shirt to Green Shirt...

Falling Starfishy

I'm back again with Computer Graphics 2 subject for this 2nd trimester...
This subjects more into Adobe Photoshop CS2 compared to the previous one using the Adobe Illustrator..
It's kinda fun to learn this software because I'm more interested learning this editing photos stuff...

Tutorial 1 - Regarding Free Fall Starfishy...

I've learn some knowledge from this first tutorial...
I've learned the Selection Tools, compositing techniques of 3 different files, the use of the transform tool and applying some basic effect using filter...

Moreover, I've learned some shortcut keys for the quick way of using this software...
Some keys that I've learned were:
1-Open Document Images = 'Shift' + 'Ctrl' + 'O'
2-Deselect = 'Ctrl' + 'D'
3-Free Transform = 'Ctrl' + 'T'
4-Marquee = M
5-Brush = B
6-Lasso = L
7- Move = V

Here are some step-by-step in the making of this free fall starfish...

For Starfishes

-As for the startup, I used the ruler tool to make the vertical and the horizontal line...
-This line will show the focus point that I need to focus first...
-Then, applying the elliptical marquee tool to focus at the center point of the ruler line...

-Applying the Marquee tool-

-I creating the blur effect by using the Gaussian Blur tool...
-This tool affected at the elliptical marque tool that I already applied previously...

-Using the Gaussian Blur for the middle part-

-I'm imported the starfish picture into it...
-Then, I dragged that image to the main image (building image)...

-Inserting the starfish-

-I'm using the shortcut term for the transform which is 'CRTL' + 'T'..
-This transform tool will help me in doing the positioning and rotating the image that I want it to be..
-But I'm using the 'SHIFT' key as resizing the image for avoiding the pixel affected...

- Using the free transform to resize and position the starfish-

-To create the starfish into 2 pieces, I'm using the duplicate tool....
-By using this tool, it will save my time by need to create from scratch for the new one...

-Duplicate another starfish-

-For this tutorial, I make the starfish into 3 pieces but in different size...
-The size is according to how far the starfish fall piece by piece....

-Duplicate to make 3 starfishy-

-I'm using the Gaussian Blur tool to make different effect for different starfish...
-As the starfish more far to the sky, I make it more blur...

-Blur them using Gaussian Blur-

-Then, I'm applying the Radial Blur effect to make it looks more realistic when the starfish falling from sky...
-I'm adjusting the quality to the best quality and also I choose the blur method to zoom method...

-Using Radial Blur -

-Here is the effect after I used the radial blur...
-The front starfish looks like more realistic one since its been the main focus of the image...

-The effect after using the Radial Blur Effect-

-I'm applying the Fade Radial Blur tool for the main front starfish...
-This will make the blur seems more sharps way and nice to see...

-Use Fade Radial Blur Tool for the starfish-

-Then I select the original layer and click on Add Layer Mask...
-This is the way we want to show the focus part...
-The white colour is for the foreground colour and black is for the background colour...
-Then, I pressed delete or backspace key to change the entire mask with black colour...
-After that, I used the paint brush tool and place it in the centre of the main front starfish image..
-This will make the starfish looked clearly perfect focus at the middle of the starfish...

-Use the brush tool to make the main starfishy in focus mode-

For TV Screen

-I imported the television image from file...
-Then, I drag the television image to the main image...

-Insert the main TV screen image-

-I'm creating the new layer for the television screen....
-Then, by using the marquee tool, I select the entire blue screen image...
-Applying 'CTRL' + 'DEL' to the image for blue screen illumination...
-After that, I'm applying the halftone pattern to the blank white screen...

-Applying the Halftone Pattern-

-Then, I changed the layer type to the Overlay type...
-This will make both layer combined together...

-Changing the layer type to overlay-

-After that, I placed the Television layer underneath the starfish layer...
-This will make the Television image to be behind of these starfishes...

-Place the TV layer underneath the starfishes-

-Using the 'CTRL' +'T' keys, I'm resizing the television image to make it fits to the building...
-I'm pressing the 'CTRL' key while adjusting the placement of the television...

-Applying the free transform for the screen and adjust the angles to fit on the building-

-To create a shadow, I'm using the Drop Shadow Layer Style to implement it to the television...
-Then, I adjust the opacity of the shadow to make it suites the image...

-Creating the shadow using Drop Shadow Layer Style-

-To make the shadow between the building and the television, I'm using the Lasso Tool...
-Before applying the Lasso Tool, I'm hidden the television image first..
-Then, I press the Alt key while clicking which part that I want to put the shadow...
-I pressed the 'CTRL' + 'BACKSPACE' and the black background colour appeared..
-Thus, using the Gaussian Blur tool effect to the shadow part...

-After applying the Gaussian Blur for the shadow of the building-

-Lastly, turn on the visibility of the Television image layer...
-Then hold down the 'CTRL' key and click on the Television layer...
-Applied the opacity tool and adjust it until it became similar and match shadow between each other...

-Applying the Layer Mask-

AREA OF GLOBAL WARMING : EXTINCTION OF THE FROGS

TITLE OF POSTER : ‘PROTECT THIS INNOCENT CREATURE’

‘HOP to LIVE; HOPE for LIFE’

Description

My poster represents the environment of the frogs which get extinct due to global warming. 170 frog’s species become extinct for the pass 10 years. Thus, by protecting them from that harm, we need to make people realize on how important this creature would be for the time being and for future. For example, insects will keep increasing and harmed the food supplies if no more frogs left out in this world. This is because frogs are the main animal that contributes to the food chain. Due to that, I make the reader visualize the sympathy mood for this frog and make them to love and protect this innocent creature.

Ideation

Since it is positive way of persuading readers to care about the frogs, I would like to emphasis more love mood in this environment. I made this poster look more into cartoons and not realism because I would like to generate the love mood from the young people also to love this innocent creature. Thus, by providing the appropriate colors, taglines and the suitable images will affect to the reader first impression and hope my target will be achieved.

1) Slogan/Tagline

‘PROTECT THIS INNOCENT CREATURE’

‘HOP to LIVE; HOPE for LIFE’

This means that we need to help that innocent frog which would be extinct day by day.

2) Image Representation

I choose to make a frog sitting on top of the stone, trying to get some loves and extra care from people. The frog itself is actually being placed in one piece of pictures which is nailed to the wall. That shows the important of the frog would be in this life.

3) Colour Representation

Yellow : represent overheating that caused by the global warming

Blue : water that frog need to live on

Red : to show love to them

Green : their habitat and their skin colour

Brown : represent soil which is the world (earth)

Black & White : peace and harmony for their life

1) THE RESEARCH

Frogs live healthy for the pass decade.But scientist noticed that frogs become decreasing in terms of the species population for the last 10 years. They found out that around 170 species already extinct from this world and 1900 species are threatened. The example of frog that already extinct is the 'Atelopus ebenoides marinkellei' which was last seen in 1995.

The caused of this frog extinction are from the Global Warming, pollution and deforestation. From that reasons, diseases arise. Fungus like 'Batrachochytrium' occurs that affect the frog species in the American tropics.

Frog is the main creature that really important in the food chain. Without the frogs, insects will grow more and more that can affect food supplies.

2) The Idea

I would like to focus more about preventing the frogs from extinct. Since it is positive way of persuading others to care about the frogs, I would like to emphasis more love mode in the idea. Thus, providing the sweet and caring mode in the area will affect to the reader first impression.
Moreover, I'm focusing the target audience is for youngster also. Which means I will choose the lighter colour compared to the dull one. The tagline/slogan also I will choose something that will sounds interesting and creative.

I used repetition for the plant and also for the loves shape

I used different types all colours and well blended between each other that will make my poster looks harmony

It is to test our ability in using the Illustrator software after the one whole sem learning for it...

TITLE OF SYMBOL : A TREE FROG

AREA OF GLOBAL WARMING : ‘SAFE THE FROG!’

Description

The Tree Frog is typically found in trees or other high-growing vegetation. They do not normally descend to the ground, except for mating. Tree frogs are usually small, as their weight has to be carried by the branches and twigs of their habitat. The back color of tree frogs is typically a vivid green, giving an excellent camouflage depending on the particular kind of vegetation they inhabit and what predators they have to hide away from. Many tree frogs can change their color to a remarkable extent. Thus when resting on bark, they are usually brownish grey.

Ideation

I choose to make this tree frog because it represents frogs that actually become extinct due to global warming. So, my idea is to make other people realize that the world will lose some species that really unique in this world. Instead, I become inspire in choosing the tree frog as my reference because it looks cute and got the attraction for other people to appreciate the beauty of this so called ‘The Tree Frog’.

Then, I used the 'Eyesdropper Tool' to mismatch the colour of the frog with the original one...
but this is not the totally and fully completed of the frog..

-Step1-

- I create the basic shape for the eyes and also the body of the frog
- I used basic shape for the eyes and using pen tool for the water drop shape
- I combined the eyes and the body of the frog using path finder tool

-Step2-

- I make the leaves and nose also using pen tool
- I select all 4 leaves to make it into 1 group by grouping them

-Step3-

- I'm using the path finder to make the glass at the outer part of it
- I combined 2 oval shape; then I group them together; after that I'm using the divide tool for it and at the end I un-group back the shape and move them piece by piece...

- I started to put colour for the object
- I used the basic colour 1st as the starter

- I start adjusting the colour using the gradient tool
- I'm using the graphic style tool to change the type of medium that the object refers to..(eg: water drop - I'm applying water style for it)
- The outline of the object, I applied the brush tool to make it look more sharp and nice to see

- I make the reflection of the drops using the pen tool
- I adjust the transparency for it to make it suite
- The gradient and the graphic style also I edit a little bit to make it look glossy

"Disease is the bullet killing frogs, but climate change is pulling the trigger," said Pounds, lead study author and resident scientist at Costa Rica's Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve.
"Global warming is wreaking havoc on amphibians and will cause staggering losses of biodiversity if we don't do something fast."
Biodiversity refers to the number of species in a given area. It is often used to gauge the health of an ecosystem.
The study appears in today's issue of the journal Nature.
Vanishing Frogs
About two-thirds of the 110 known harlequin frog species are believed to have vanished during the 1980s and 1990s. The primary culprit, Pounds suggests, is the disease-causing chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis.
Amphibian skin is extremely thin, which makes frogs acutely sensitive to even minor changes in temperature, humidity, and air or water quality. It also makes frogs more susceptible to chytrid fungus.

The new study suggests that temperature extremes may have previously helped keep the deadly disease in check. But new climate cycles are now moderating those annual temperature swings.
Global warming has increased evaporation in the tropical mountains of the Americas, which in turn has promoted cloud formation, the study reports. That cloud cover may have actually decreased daytime temperatures by blocking sunlight. At the same time, it may have served as an insulating blanket to raise nighttime highs.
Pounds believes the combination has created ideal conditions for the spread of the frog-killing fungus, which grows and reproduces best at temperatures between 63° and 77°F (17° and 25°C).
